The original two volume FAO Species Catalog (1984) was an invaluable resource for any one interested in sharks, extinct or extant. A revised edition has been in the works for a long time and Volume 2 of the new three-part series was the first to be released.

  • Heterodontus sp. A Randall, 1995 - Oman bullhead shark
  • Parascyllium sp. A Last and Stevens, 1994 - Ginger carpet shark

  • Hemiscyllium sp. Dibelius, 1993 - Seychelles bamboo shark

  • Deletion of:
  • Carcharias tricuspidata
  • Parascyllium multimaculatum

  • and certain changes, i.e.;
  • Isurus paucus Guitart, 1966 (left off Manday)
  • Rhincodontidae (vice Rhiniodontidae as ruled by the Zoological nomenclature commission, 1984) Rhincodon (vice Rhiniodon as above)
