The original two volume FAO Species Catalog (1984) was an invaluable resource for any one
interested in sharks, extinct or extant. A revised edition has been in the works for a long time
and Volume 2 of the new three-part series was the first to be released.
Volume 2 (2001). Bullhead, makeral and carpet sharks (Heterodontiformes,

Changes included the addition of:
Heterodontus sp. A Randall, 1995 - Oman bullhead shark
Parascyllium sp. A Last and Stevens, 1994 - Ginger carpet shark
Orectolobus sp. A Last and Stevens, 1994 - Western wobbegong
Hemiscyllium sp. Dibelius, 1993 - Seychelles bamboo shark
Deletion of:
Carcharias tricuspidata
Parascyllium multimaculatum
and certain changes, i.e.;
Isurus paucus Guitart, 1966 (left off Manday)
Rhincodontidae (vice Rhiniodontidae as ruled by the Zoological nomenclature
commission, 1984) Rhincodon (vice Rhiniodon as above)
