This book, published by the Virginia Division of Mineral Resources, provides a detailed overview of the animal and plant fauna of the site known best as Muddy Creek (Nanjemoy Frm, Ypresian, Virginia). The scope and depth of this volume is only matched by the fauna itself. It is a true delight to see a Mid-Atlantic fauna so well documented. Most chapters are supplemented with excellent images and will serve the reader well beyond this site's confined time and location. The Muddy Creek fish were largely compared with their London Clay counterparts, I would have preferred to see the Moroccan fauna also included in this study.

The book is broken into 8 parts (159 pages.)
1.Introduction, geology and paleogeographic setting - R. E. Weems & G. J. Grimsley
2.Sharks from the Fisher/Sullivan site - B.W. Kent
3.Rays from the Fisher/Sullivan site - B.W. Kent
